The 2010 Noctilucent Cloud Season has begun folks! According to spaceweather.com these fleeting high cirrus like clouds that form on the edge of the atmosphere have been spotted in both denmark and northern russia.

Lat years display season (typically lasts from may to september) was by far the best one in recent years. One display i observed was so bright that it casted shadows on the ground next to me , pretty cool stuff!. I'll be keeping an eye out for these clouds in the coming months and i encourge members on this forum to observe the clouds adn post reports/pics in this thread. Once you see these clouds , you won't forget them , very eerie to watch! Very Happy

A good sign that the NLC season is really kicking in now. Best chances will come from this Weekend onwards as things settle down. Smile

Observed a NLC display in the early hours of the morning here. I had quite a restless nights sleep due to a cold ive currently got. Got up at around 2.20am and looked out my bedroom window (faces north) and saw a decent display of the electric blue clouds. No photos unfortunatly but visual observation was made. Ive reported my observations to the NLC homepage run by Tam Mcewan.

it can be seen here in the recent sightnings page :

My names C.Young if anyone didnt know lol.

Id keep an eye on the northern sky if ur up during the night in the coming weeks , NLC's seem to be abundant in the run up to the summer solstince

The upcoming week should be a great opportunity to see NLC if they are out. Should be plenty of clear skies around. Smile
